Smoothies And Milkshakes

Smoothies and milkshakes are very popular forms of dessert especially for unique times and seasons. Smoothies are great for breakfast and during the summer and milkshakes are fun during picnics and movie nights but both of them make great desserts at any time and they’re very fast and quick to make up as well as being very tasty and easy to customize for individual taste preferences. They can also be made healthier or with specific ingredients according to any allergies or special diets. Smoothies are also really great for kids that may have picky tastes or don’t love to eat their fruits. If you get really ambitious you can even sneak a vegetable or two in there with these for your kids to eat - if you choose the right combination there won’t even be at taste difference. Milkshakes are a lot of fun too because you can add all sorts of fun candy and treats into them to “shake” them up - so to speak.

When it comes to smoothie recipes the combinations are endless and they can be really easily adjusted and tailored to individual tastes and preferences without much efforts. Below I’ve listed a basic strawberry smoothie that will serve just to give you an idea of the main components of the smoothies you can make and how to adjust them if you want to. For a strawberry smoothie you’ll need the following:

two to three cups of strawberries
one banana
one to one and a half cups of strawberry yogurt
two cups of ice

Once you have all your ingredients assembled just blend them together until they’re nice and smooth. The fun thing with smoothies is coming up with new combinations and flavors that sound good to. Not all of the ones you try will turn out well but if you stumble on just one that is really good you’ll have made up for all the failed attempts. You can try all different kinds of fruit like pears, peaches, nectarines, oranges, kiwi, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, pineapple, and many more along with different combinations of them to see what works well together. You can also try different flavors of yogurt or just use some milk or cream or even just use ice if you want to go dairy-free. The more combinations you try the more likely you are to find one that you really like. Smoothies are a great way to do breakfast and they also can work well for taking supplements or certain health formulas that may not taste very good. There are also lots of people that like to add alcohol or soda into their smoothies just to make it a little more interesting but it’s always up to you.

Milkshakes are similar though the don’t have the same health component that smoothies do. Since smoothies are usually fruit based and milkshakes are usually ice cream based a milkshake probably isn’t something you’d want to have for breakfast but they are still a great treat for any other time and they are so simple and quick to make that sometimes it can be hard to resist having one. Milkshakes are usually a mix of ice cream, milk or cream, flavorings, and various toppings that are blended together to be smooth and creamy. They’re very easy to make and lots of fun to mix up with new ingredients, flavors, or names. All you have to do is start with the basics and work your way up from there. It can be a lot of fun to create new recipes and have friends or family try them out. to give you the basics I’ve listed the recipe for a simple vanilla milkshake that you can use as the starting point for a variety of other kinds of milkshakes. All you need for a vanilla milkshake is the following:

two cups of vanilla ice cream
one cup of whole milk
one teaspoon of vanilla

That all it takes! All you need to do is blend them together and you have a lovely vanilla milkshake or the beginnings of whatever kind of milkshake you would like to create. You can add chocolate syrup, caramel or butterscotch syrup, berries, fruit, or whatever you might like. It’s also really fun to add crushed up candy along with some chocolate syrup to give your milkshake a really fun flavor. Some candy you might consider adding could be m&m’s pieces of peanut butter cups, snickers, butterfingers, pieces of cookie dough and so on. You can also do a peanut butter or a peanut butter and banana milkshake as well. There are tons of different varieties and if you want to you can even add a little bit of ice into your milkshake to give it some crunch and a frosty flavor. Whatever you decide to do you can just work off of the basic ingredients and then add whatever sounds yummy to you. Use your imagination and come up with some fun new recipes and see what you can create!
