Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie is an especially tasty dessert and it’s very popular during the fall season around Thanksgiving and Halloween. It’s delicious and easy to make and though it takes a little while to cook it’s very quick to prepare which makes it a great dessert that can be cooking while dinner is being prepared and eaten which makes things a lot easier and more fun for whoever is doing the cooking. To make your pumpkin pie you’ll need the following:

eight ounces of cream cheese, softened
two cups of canned pumpkin, mashed with a fork
one cup of sugar
one fourth a teaspoon of salt
one egg
two yolks, beaten
one cup of cream
one fourth a cup of melted butter
one teaspoon of vanilla
one half a teaspoon of cinnamon

You’ll also want to either make a pie crust or have a pre-made one on hand as well.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place your pie shell in the freezer to firm if it isn’t already. After and hour take it out and press tinfoil into and then weigh it down with beans or pie weights and bake it for ten minutes. Once it begins to dry out and color take it out and let it rest.

For the filling you’ll want to be beat the cream cheese and the pumpkin until they’re combined well. Add the sugar and salt and beat again. Then add the eggs, the yolks, the butter, the cram, and beat until completely combined. Finally add the vanilla and cinnamon and mix until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Pour the filling into he pie crust and bake it for fifty minutes or until it’s set all the way through the center. Once it’s done place it on a rack to cool and when it’s at room temperature you can cut it into slices and serve it.

Pumpkin pie also does well with a bit of ginger in if you prefer that and some people will even put a caramel and chocolate topping on it to give it some extra flavor. If you prefer it also goes very well with a graham cracker crust and that can be a bit easier than making a home-made pie crust which will also cut down on the preparation time and make your pumpkin pie even easier and faster to make. If you like you can make a homemade crust that has different kinds of ground up nuts or nut flavoring in it and you an also add those to your pumpkin pie as well to give it a nutty texture and taste. You can even flavor your whipped cream to make it match your pumpkin pie - especially since home made whipped cream is the best.

Pumpkin pie is best served when it’s warm from the oven and is usually presented with a nice scoop of whipped cream on top or with some vanilla ice cream as this complements the flavors well. You can also sprinkle some nuts on top of it if you like and some people even serve it with a cranberry sauce during thanksgiving. Have fun making your pumpkin pie and enjoy!
