Fruit Desserts
Fruit desserts are a great way to enjoy a treat after dinner or just for fun especially if you’re looking for something that’s a little lighter, a little healthier, or just something different from cookies and cake. Fruit desserts are also really nice during summer because they aren’t as heavy or weighing and the best time to have fruit is when it’s in season.
Fruit desserts can come in all different styles and kinds which is part of why they’re so fun and popular and the best part of it all is that they’re usually very simple and easy to prepare. One of the simplest ways to do dessert with fruits is to simply dress up some of your favorite fruits and serve them after dinner. This is so quick and simple and many people find it a refreshing and tasty way to do dessert. You can have strawberries with some fresh cream or ice cream, peaches marinated in white wine, berries in balsamic vinegar, a simple pudding mixed with berries, jello with fruit mixed in, a flavored yogurt (strawberry or vanilla is my choice here) with fresh fruit tossed in it and plenty of other ideas. If you want to go super basic just wash some of your favorite fruit and put it in a bowl with a little sugar sprinkled on top. Many countries just consider fruit all by itself to be a perfect dessert and will eat some fruit along with a bit of cheese as the ending to their meal. Nothing is more satisfying on a hot summers night.
If you want to go to a little more effort fruit make a great complement to a lot of desserts and many are based around them. Pies are particularly know for their fruit fillings but you can also do things like homemade fruit ice cream, strawberry shortcake, cobbler, peach and plum cake, apricot coffee cake, fondue with fruit, and plenty of others. Fruit is very versatile so you can be as creative as you like here. Mix and match your favorites and try new fillings and varieties and you’re bound to come across something tasty. You can also put fruit into your frostings, fillings, and just as toppings for other food. This often works well if you have a cake or a cookie that doesn’t work well with fruit in it but might do nicely with a raspberry topping or a cherry sauce on it. This is a great way to try out new fruit desserts to because if you don’t like you can just not use the sauce - just make sure you only pour it over an individual serving the first time.
Fruit is also great in smoothies and milkshakes which can make an excellent dessert especially for outdoor parties or during the summer. A nice icy raspberry lemonade smoothie or a cherry chocolate chip milkshake can be very tasty if you get it just right. You can also mix fruit into your drinks and punches to complement whatever dessert you might be serving that evening.
Desserts with fruit are a great way to go and they can be the most simple and easy recipes of them all so give it a chance and see what yummy recipes you might enjoy.
